The APhO2009 will be held Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand, during April 24 – May 2, 2009. Students will stay at KU Home in the campus of Kasetsart University in Bangkok. The competition site, Kasetsart University, is a reputed university in Thailand with pleasant and serene environments. Leaders along with observers and visitors will stay in a hotel in Bangkok.

The APhO2009 Organizing Committee is planning to hold various special activities to help APhO2009 participants to find not only a relaxed environment for the competition but also chances to mix with the warm hearted Thai people and to experience the cultural tradition of Thailand.

According to the Statutes of APhO, each participating country sends a team consisting of 8 students of general or technical high schools, i.e. schools which cannot be considered technical colleges. Also students who finished their school examination in the year of the competition can be members of a team as long as they do not start the university studies. The age of the participants should not exceed twenty on June 30, 2009.

The APhO2009 Organizing Committee will cover all the official expenses for the team, including meals and accommodations, during the official period. However, travel expenses between your country and Bangkok will be each participating country's responsibility.

Observers and visitors are welcome, but they are expected to cover their expenses. Observers may attend all Olympiad meetings, including the meetings of the International Board. However they may not vote or take part in the discussions. Visitors do not attend the meetings of the International Board. Different fees will be charged for them. As an established custom in the Asian Physics Olympiad, each participating country contributes a voluntary fee of 1,000 US dollars.
